At Aspire, we believe that all students can learn and grow. We use a variety of current, research-based instructional strategies to provide multiple opportunities for students to be successful and improve their self-regulation skills. We also use targeted academic language in our lessons to meet the visual, auditory, and tactile needs of all learners.

We use a team teaching approach with either a highly qualified tutor and/or a certified teacher working with your child. Throughout the session we teach, guide, evaluate, and reteach or move on as needed to ensure that students meet or exceed the required standards.

Reading

Reading tutors help students develop critical thinking skills through fluency, comprehension, phonics, and vocabulary.

Elementary | Grades K-5

Imagine reading a book and feeling like you're stepping into a magical world! That's what reading can do. But sometimes words can seem tricky or stories can be confusing. That's where reading tutors come in like friendly guides who help you unlock the secrets of reading! With a reading tutor, you can practice reading aloud, learn new words, and understand stories better. Tutors can make reading fun with games, activities, and even silly voices! They can also help you with things like sounding out words, keeping track of the story, and asking questions.

So if you're feeling stuck on a page, don't worry! A reading tutor can be your partner in reading adventures, helping you discover the joy of books and all the amazing things they hold.

Middle School | Grades 6-8

Reading isn't just about sounding out words anymore. In middle school you're expected to dive deeper, analyze characters, and understand complex themes. But sometimes it can feel like you're swimming in a sea of text! That's where reading tutors come in like lifeguards ready to throw you a lifeline.

A reading tutor can help you develop critical thinking skills to break down texts, identify author's purpose, and make connections between what you're reading and the real world. They can also show you how to use context clues to figure out unfamiliar words, take effective notes, and organize your thoughts when writing about what you've read.

Think of a reading tutor as your personal decoder ring for unlocking the hidden messages in books. They can help you become a more confident and engaged reader ready to tackle any text that comes your way!

High School | Grades 9-12

In high school, the reading game gets even tougher. You're expected to analyze dense academic texts, compare and contrast different perspectives, and even form your own arguments based on what you've read. Luckily, an Aspire reading tutor can equip you with advanced reading strategies to handle challenging material. They can show you how to dissect arguments, evaluate evidence, and identify potential biases in the text. They can also help you develop your own persuasive writing skills using textual evidence to support your claims.

Think of a reading tutor as your personal literary compass, guiding you through the labyrinth of complex texts and helping you find your own voice as a reader and writer. Let's conquer those reading peaks together!
